Ferencváros player Aissa Laidouni, who was a standout performer for Tunisia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, could be acquired for a record price. According to Index, Union Berlin and Espanyol are both competing for the 26-year-old.
Laidouni is wanted by several teams, with Hertha BSC and SC Freiburg having also been interested earlier. Index reports now that of the two current main interested teams, Union Berlin and Espanyol, the German club could be the frontrunner, but a final decision has not yet been made by Ferencváros (Fradi). Aissa Laidouni’s contract with the Hungarian champions runs until 2024.
Since then, Laidouni’s value has also increased because of his outstanding performance at the World Cup in Qatar. Tunisia was one of the surprise teams of the tournament, putting in a strong performance and beating France 1-0 in their group match.

In addition, Laidouni was a solid starter for Fradi last season, although he is playing less in the Hungarian league this season. Part of the reason for this is that Ferencváros has been making strong progress in the Europa League, where the Tunisian has appeared in five games. Laidouni is a one-time Hungarian champion and cup winner, and was voted Footballer of the Year in 2022.
If he does end up at Union Berlin, he could rival the currently injured Hungarian footballer and member of the national team, András Schäfer, who plays in the same position as Laidouni.
