Lloris texted Kane after penalty miss
France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris confessed that he sent a text to club team mate Harry Kane after quarter final in which England where dumped out and the striker missed a penalty.
Kane blazed a late penalty over the bar with his side trailing 2-1 on Saturday. Lloris said he comiserated with his Spurs team mate after the match. "It's a difficult time for the England national team and Harry," he told reporters on Tuesday. "I don't need to go too much further. We had a text (exchange) after the game. It was not easy to find the words. He needed some time to rest. But I think he can be proud of what he has done for the national team. In football history, many top players have missed penalties in their career – Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo… but I have no doubt Harry will keep his chin up and help Tottenham and the national team to shine".
"[Achraf] Hakimi knows Mbappé better than me, he trains with him on a daily basis, I'm sure he is better placed than I am to know Kylian. I'm not going to set up a plan to counter Mbappe, unfortunately for us France have other great players. Griezmann is on his game, Dembélé on the other wing is a great complement to Mbappé. To focus on Mbappé would be a mistake. Hakimi is one of the best in the world in his position too so it will be a great duel between two champions, both going at it hell for leather. We shouldn't focus on Kylian but how we will cause problems for France. I'm sure Hakimi will be on top of his game".

“Messi will win World Cup and we’ll never know the truth on Ronaldo”
He's been pretty quiet recently but Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken. And, like everyone else, he's got his views on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, playing in their last World Cups.
On Messi: “I think it’s already written who will win, and you know who I mean,” Ibrahimovic said. “I think Messi will lift the trophy, it’s already written.”
On Ronaldo: "His leaving United, I think when things happen, we will never know the true story."

What did Neymar say to his teammates about Brazil’s loss in the World Cup?
One nation that will not be involved in the Qatar 2022 World Cup semi-finals, much to their disappointment, is Brazil. Neymar equalled Pele´s all-time goalscoring record for A Seleção in the quarter-finals against Croatia but that wasn't enough to stop them being defeated in a penalty shootout.
Amidst claims in the Brazilian press that a lack of unity had hampered the national team, Neymar has fought back by sharing private messages of support sent to his teammates on Instagram.
Here's what he said.

Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz sent home: What referees made / missed the cut?
What did you make of the officiating of the World Cup quarter-finals? If you didn't think that it was any good (some may argue that's an understatement), then it appears you're not alone.
FIFA have sent home three of the four referees that took charge of the quarter-finals, although England vs France whistler Wilton Sampaio has been kept on…

Argentina vs Croatia odds and prediction: who is the favourite to win the World Cup semi-final?
Argentina are one of the biggest soccer nations on the globe. Surely they must be odds-on favourites to beat Croatia and reach the final?
Ah, but wait! The Croats got to the last World Cup final. And they beat Brazil in the last round.
The bookmakers have definitely got a clear favourite for this one. I'd suggest that it'll be closer than they think (not that you should ever follow my betting tips).

Yellow and red cards in the semi-final game: what are the sanctions for the World Cup final?
Before we look at the semi-finals in closer detail, cast your minds back to the quarter-finals and the madness that was Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz brandishing no fewer than EIGHTEEN yellow cards in the Argentina vs Netherlands clash.
How does that affect the Argentinians going into the semi-finals? Well, there’s some bad news but, given just how many yellow cards they got, there’s also plenty of good news for their last-four match against Croatia and indeed for everyone ahead of the final.

PROTESTS IN IRAN
Iran soccer player sentenced to death by hanging
Before we get stuck into the World Cup semi-finals, some absolutely shocking news came out of Iran late on Monday.
“Following the death in Iran at the hands of the morality police of a 22-year-old Kurdish girl, Mahsa Amin, for violating the country’s strict dress code, a wave of protests have erupted across the country, with the state repressing those calling for more freedom.
The Iranian regime is taking a hard line over the protests and is desperate to punish those who have campaigned for women’s rights and freedom in the nation. The most recent of these is 26-year-old former soccer player, Amir Nasr-Azadani, who has been sentenced to be hanged.”
I’m at a loss for words.
