With the Under 18 women’s selection camp wrapping up at the AIS this week, the team who will head to Bengaluru, India early next month to compete at the FIBA Under 18 Asia cup has been named.
The 12-player line up will feature five Sapphires who recently took part in the Under 17 World Cup campaign in Hungary alongside three 2021 Under 19 World Cup Silver medallists including Nyadiew Puoch, Dallas Loughridge and Isobel Borlase.
Taking place from September 5-11, this series will be Australia’s second appearance at the Under 18 competition, following their bronze medal achievement in 2018.
Australia has drawn in Division A, which will see them take on China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and host nation India.
After recently being appointed the Centre of Excellence’s Head of Women’s Program, David Herbert will coach the Under 18 side, with Kristen Veal and Tom Garlepp rounding out the coaching staff.
