Chelsea co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly personally wants to sign AC Milan winger and Tottenham Hotspur target Rafael Leao, according to 90min.
The repot has claimed that ‘Boehly is an enormous fan’ of AC Milan and Portugal international star Leao.
With the 23-year-old, who played at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, having turned down the offer of a new contract from Milan, Chelsea chief Boehly wants to open talks with the defending Serie A champions and bring the youngster to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023.
Boehly’s personal interest in Leao will come as a blow to Chelsea’s London and Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s because Tottenham have also been linked with the former Lille forward, described as “a real firework” by ex-Chelsea and Liverpool star Joe Cole on ITV (8:03pm, November 28, 2022).
CMW have reported that Tottenham are keen on signing Leao, who has scored six goals and provided four assists in Serie A and has scored one goal and provided two assists in the UEFA Champions League for Milan so far this season.
Boehly is calling all the shots at Chelsea at the moment, and if he is personally vested in a transfer for Leao, then we think that Tottenham will have to work extremely hard to get him next summer.
