Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been linked with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur, but Sport have reported that it is Barcelona that the France international wants to move to.
Sport have claimed that Barcelona want to sign Kante on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 when his current contact at Chelsea runs out.
Kante and Barcelona have been in contact for weeks, and the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners could hand the 31-year-old a pre-contact in January.
The 2018 World Cup winner with France reportedly wants to leave Chelsea.
This report in the Spanish publication will come as a blow for Chelsea’s London and Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s because the two North London clubs have also been linked with the former Leicester City midfielder.
FootMercato reported in October that Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in Kante and are possible options for the 31-year-old central midfielder.
Arsenal and Spurs are massive clubs, but Barcelona are one of the biggest in the world and have a far richer history and tradition of winning trophies.
Kante is used to winning major trophies at Chelsea, and leaving the Blues for Barcelona would be a sideways step for the France international, so we can understand why the £290,000 per week (SalarySport) star would want to move to Camp Nou.
