New Covid-19 cases drop by 24.9%, recoveries down 19.5% | Free Malaysia Today – Free Malaysia Today

PETALING JAYA: The number of new Covid-19 cases dropped by 24.9% last week to 10,937 from the 14,558 recorded the week before, says health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In his update for the week ending Dec 10, Noor Hisham said the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to public hospitals under Category 1 and 2 dropped by 23.9% per 100,000 from the preceding week, while Category 3, 4 and 5 patients was down 25.6%.
Overall bed occupancy for non-critical beds dropped by 9% while utilisation of intensive care unit (ICU) beds was down 2%.
Active cases decreased during the week by 16.4% to 20,945.
“Recoveries was down by 19.5% from 18,405 to 14,816,” Noor Hisham said.
“The number of deaths reported as of Saturday was 43, down from 62 the week before, bringing the cumulative figure for fatalities to 36,753.”
He said a total of 5,009,767 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the country since January 2020.
