Man Utd ‘are looking’ to strengthen two positions at Old Trafford – GIVEMESPORT

Manchester United may not sign anyone in January, with the Red Devils more likely to bring new recruits to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told GiveMeSport.
Erik ten Hag has welcomed six new players to the club since he was appointed as United’s head coach in April.
Manchester United have been linked with a multitude of players ahead of the re-opening of the January transfer window, with the most significant being that of PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands star Cody Gakpo, who the Red Devils could look to sign for £50m, as per The Sun.
The Oranje star has wowed the Red Devils with his performances at the World Cup, having scored three goals in five games in Qatar, and could be a solution for ten Hag’s side as they look to replace the services of Cristiano Ronaldo up front.
In terms of right-backs, Celtic and Croatia’s Josip Juranović has been on the Premier League club’s radar, with transfer insider Dean Jones recently telling GiveMeSport that United coach Steve McClaren is a big fan of the 27-year-old and has recommended him to the Dutch head coach.
And Sheth believes that whilst United have a focus on looking at forwards and right-backs for the side, the club may not act upon this until the summer transfer window, with there being a chance the club won’t sign anybody in January.
Sheth told GiveMeSport: “Let’s be clear, Manchester United are looking at forwards and they’re looking at right-backs ahead of the January transfer window, but more likely ahead of the summer transfer window.
“The information I’m getting is that there is a significant chance that Manchester United won’t actually sign anyone in this transfer window.”
United currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League table during the competition’s break for the World Cup, trailing fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur by three points, though the Red Devils have played a game less than their north London counterparts.
The Dutchman’s remit at Old Trafford this season will have been to try and secure a top-four finish, and with-it gain Champions League qualification next season, and potentially win a trophy such as the FA Cup or Europa League.
With the visit of Burnley in the Carabao Cup to come next Wednesday before welcoming Nottingham Forest in the Red Devils’ first Premier League game back on the 27th, ten Hag will hope that he has got United into a solid position on the pitch heading into the January market in case the club decide to move early on any transfer targets.
