Cabinet memo on MA63 rights 'to be tabled next month' – Free Malaysia Today

KOTA KINABALU: A memorandum by Cabinet ministers on demands by Sabah and Sarawak concerning rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 will be tabled early next month, said the minister for Sabah and Sarawak affairs, Armizan Ali.
He said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had given deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof and himself a period of one month to receive comments and feedback.
Feedback would be obtained from the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak as well as other ministries and government agencies before the memorandum is prepared and submitted to the Cabinet, he said.
“One of the things this can do is to ensure that claims and applications submitted by the two state governments can be dealt with by the federal government. There are already matters enshrined in the Federal Constitution and we need to implement them fully.
Armizan, who had a meeting with Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor today, said the main comments and responses so far have been on financial and economic matters, as well as Sabah’s share of tax revenue collected by the federal government in the state.
He said the implementation of Sabah and Sarawak’s demands required the cooperation of all ministries. “It is my responsibility to coordinate them to ensure that they (demands) are implemented well,” he said.
