Arsenal: £88m star is ‘definitely one to watch’ in January at Emirates – GIVEMESPORT

Arsenal’s interest in Shakhtar Donetsk and Ukraine international Mykhaylo Mudryk is “one to watch” at the Emirates Stadium, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told GiveMeSport.
The Gunners currently top the Premier League table during the competition’s break for the World Cup.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are one of several clubs in talks with Shakhtar over the potential signing of Mudryk this summer, though the Ukrainian club reportedly value the winger at a fee of almost £88m.
The 21-year-old has been left disappointed with his club’s valuation of him and has been left “shocked” by the price which Shakhtar have put on his head, he told Sport Arena.
In the interview, he said: “I am 100 per cent sure that they are unlikely to buy a player from the championship of Ukraine for 100 million [euros]… I will not hide that I was very upset. The amount of 100 million puts a barrier for my transition to the top championship, which I so dreamed of. I can’t say that my dream was killed, but wounded – that’s for sure.”
CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested to GiveMeSport that the Gunners have a huge advantage in the race to sign the eight-time Ukraine international this winter, with the winger actively wanting to move to the Emirates.
And Sheth believes that the club have been looking at players in the style of Mudryk since the summer and therefore believes that the transfer is one to keep an eye on.
Sheth told GiveMeSport: “It’s clear that there is an interest in Mudryk, there has been for a little while. That’s an area that they wanted to strengthen from as far back as the summer when they wanted to bring in Raphinha. So, Mudryk is definitely one to watch in the January transfer window.”
With Gabriel Jesus now potentially facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery following a knee injury picked up on World Cup duty with Brazil, Arsenal’s need to sign a forward player has now heightened ahead of the January window.
The Krasnograd-born wide man has got an exceptional eye for providing and scoring goals, having found the back of the net ten times and setting up eight goals in 18 appearances so far this campaign, according to Transfermarkt.
It is in the Champions League where the rest of Europe has been dazzled by the young starlet’s talent, having struck three times in the competition this season at a rate of one goal every 173 minutes, according to Sofascore.
Whilst Mudryk may come at a cost, both Arteta and Edu may feel that his value will be a mere drop in the ocean if he could hit the ground running at the Emirates and help the club secure a Premier League title come the end of the season.
